## Same-photo test

The same room photo went into Sherwin-Williams, Behr, DecorAI Surface Painting and RoomLab. The shades were different, so the test compares wall coverage and unwanted changes, not color accuracy.

- **Sherwin-Williams:** the first attempt left unpainted wall patches and spilled color onto trim
- **Behr:** a small spill near the window
- **DecorAI:** kept the room layout, but changed the wall's texture and shading. Took 30 seconds
- **RoomLab:** kept the room layout. Took 60 seconds. The free preview had watermarks and downloading needed a purchase

## How to preview a brand's color in DecorAI

1. Open Surface Painting and upload a level photo that shows the wall, floor, furniture and trim
2. Find the color's published HEX value on the paint brand's website and enter it (RGB and HSL also work)
3. In Select an Area to Change, choose Wall, Ceiling, Floor or Specify my own area
4. Generate and compare the result with the original photo
5. Save the brand, color name and product code with the image

A paint product code is not a HEX value. If a brand does not publish a digital value, do not treat a color picked from a screenshot as an official match.

## What it does not do

- **No paint brand library.** DecorAI has no brand colors or product codes. You enter a digital color value.
- **No exact color match.** A HEX value is a screen color. Light, wall texture, screen settings and paint finish change how the real paint looks. Always test a physical sample.
- **No guarantee nothing else changes.** In our test the wall texture changed. Check the floor, furniture and trim against the original.
- **No paint quantities, costs or finish advice.**
- **No measured plans.** It makes pictures, not floor plans or CAD files.
