## What a Japandi living room uses

- Simple, often low furniture, with a coffee table within an inch or two of the sofa seat
- Warm neutral walls, for example Sherwin-Williams Alabaster (SW 7008) or Benjamin Moore Pale Oak (OC-20)
- One main wood tone with a second in smaller amounts, such as white oak and walnut, or ash and smoked oak
- A natural flatweave rug sized so the front legs of every seat sit on it (often 8 x 10 feet)
- Several warm lamps at 2700K instead of one bright ceiling light
- A pale base (warm white, cream, sand) with one dark wood contrast such as walnut
- Natural materials: wood, linen, paper, wool, clay and stone
- Soft light from paper lanterns and fabric shades, and sheer linen curtains
- One slat feature on a wall or ceiling, one or two round shapes, one sculptural plant
- Closed storage, with very few objects on display

## The worked example

The first redesign kept the glass doors, the back window, the oak floor and the room shape. It added
sheer linen curtains, a dark wood slat wall, a low cream sofa, a round wood coffee table, a woven lounge
chair, a paper lantern, an olive tree and a flat-weave rug. A second open-plan example kept the bifold
doors and walls but also changed the gray floor to oak and replanted the backyard.

## Fixing a Japandi room that looks beige

Common fixes, taken from a public r/interiordecorating thread: replace metal and glass tables with low
solid wood, add a paper shade, put small objects away in closed storage, and use real wood. None of these add color. Better materials do more than new paint.

## What DecorAI does here

Upload a photo of a living room, pick Japandi from 54 interior styles, and get up
to 4 designs in about 30 seconds. It keeps walls,
windows and doors in place.

## What it does not do

- It does not produce floor plans, measured drawings or CAD files
- It does not measure the room or check whether furniture fits
- It does not estimate costs or source products
- It can change surfaces such as the floor, so results should be compared with the original photo
