# Best Free AI Room Design Apps

DecorAI tested seven AI room design apps on the same two room photos, a heavily ornate traditional
bedroom and a coastal living room, and compared what each one gives for free. Each app received the
same photos, the same modern style where a style menu existed, default settings, and one attempt per
room. Testing took place in the final week of August 2026, and competitor plans were checked again on
their own sites in October 2026.

## Test results

Scores weigh four things: how well the app kept the room layout (walls, windows, doors, ceiling and
furniture positions), render quality and realism, how well it followed the modern style, and whether
the free output is usable (resolution and watermark).

The free allowance ran out quickly everywhere except ReimagineHome. Two rooms used all of Dehome's free
credits and 20 of Spacely AI's 30, and DecorAI, Home Design AI and RemodelAI each had one design left.

## What to check in any free AI room design app

- Can you upload a photo of your own room?
- Does it keep the walls, windows and doors where they are?
- Does the result carry a watermark?
- How many free designs do you get, and do they expire?
- Is a payment card required to start?
- Is commercial use allowed?

The size of the free allowance says nothing about quality. In this test, the app with the most free
designs also had the heaviest watermark.

## What it does not do

- They can change small details even when the layout stays the same, so compare every result with the

## Getting a better result

Use a clear, well-lit photo taken from a doorway or corner that shows the walls, floor, windows, doors
and main furniture. If the app takes a text prompt, name the furniture, materials, colors and flooring
you want, and say what should stay unchanged, instead of writing only "modern".
