# Best AI Bathroom Design Apps 2026: Which Ones Keep Your Plumbing?

A hands-on comparison of 6 AI bathroom design apps tested on the same bathroom photo on October 13, 2026, plus ChatGPT as a separate example. The main question: did each app keep the toilet, sink, shower and window in place? Moving a toilet or shower can mean opening the floor and changing pipes, so a design that moves them is less useful for planning.

DecorAI publishes this test and makes one of the apps. Every app, including DecorAI, was scored on the same photo with the same criteria.

## How the apps were scored

Each result got a score out of 8 from two checks:

- **Room layout:** did the sink, toilet, shower and window stay in their original positions, and were details such as the wall vent kept?
- **Image quality:** were the tiles, mirrors and fixtures clear and realistic, without blurry details, bent edges or odd shapes?

## Results

| App | Score | Kept the layout? | Free access |
|---|---|---|---|
| DecorAI | 7/8 | Mostly. Sink, toilet and shower stayed, but the faucet moved to the wall. | 3 designs in a 1-day trial, card required, no watermark |
| Genroom | 7/8 | Mostly. Main fixtures stayed, but the wall vent disappeared. | 6 credits after sign-in, enough for 3 designs, with a watermark |
| Paintit.ai | 7/8 | Mostly. Main fixtures, window and wall vent stayed. | 30 credits, at least 3 credits per image, 1K output |
| REimagineHome | 6.5/8 | Mostly. Main fixtures, window and wall vent stayed. | 5 free designs, no card. The result we got had a watermark. |
| Home Design AI | 6.5/8 | Partly. Toilet and shower stayed, but the sink shifted slightly. | Free credits after login, number not published |
| RoomGPT | 5/8 | Partly. Sink and shower stayed, but the toilet changed shape, lost its tank, and the vent became unclear. | 1 free design after Google sign-in |

ChatGPT was not scored. Asked to redesign the photo in its own style, it kept the sink, toilet, shower and window in similar areas, but some sizes and distances changed.

## Which app fits which job

- **Refresh tiles and wall colors:** DecorAI, using Surface Only mode
- **Picture a complete makeover:** DecorAI, Genroom or Paintit.ai, the three apps that scored 7/8
- **Find products to buy:** REimagineHome, which suggests real furniture and decor on Pro and higher plans
- **Start without a card:** REimagineHome, with 5 free designs
- **Check what fits the room:** a measured planner such as Planner 5D, Houzz Pro or the IKEA Bathroom Planner. These draw the room to size and were not scored, because they do a different job.

## What DecorAI's bathroom tool does

Upload a bathroom photo, choose one of 6 bathroom types (such as a half bath or wet room) and one of 7 styles (such as Spa Minimalist or Japanese Zen), and set a tile style. Choose how much changes: Full Redesign, Surface Only (keeps the fixtures, changes the finishes) or Fixtures Only. You get up to 4 designs in about 30 seconds.

## Where DecorAI falls short

- In this test it moved the faucet from the sink to the wall, which could mean pipe changes
- It makes pictures, not measured plans, so sizes must be checked before work starts
- The trial needs a card and lasts 1 day

## What AI bathroom design apps do not do

- They do not measure the bathroom or check whether a tub, shower or vanity fits
- They do not show pipes or wires inside the walls, draw plumbing plans or check building codes
- They do not estimate remodel costs
- Products in the picture may not exist, and colors and materials can look different in real life
- Compare every design with the original photo and get a quote based on your own bathroom before buying anything

## Pricing

A free 1-day trial includes 3 watermark-free designs. A card is needed, nothing is charged during the trial, and it can be canceled at no cost. The monthly plan is $24. https://decorai.io/pricing/
